Attorney Laura M. Boyd was born and raised in Fresno, California. She attended Clovis West High School; California State University, Fresno; and obtained her law degree at San Joaquin College of Law in Clovis.
Prior to entering law school, Ms. Boyd received her paralegal certificate from San Joaquin College of Law and worked as a paralegal at McCormick, Barstow, Sheppard, Wayte & Carruth. During that time, she also volunteered as a court advocate with the Marjaree Mason Center, assisting victims of domestic violence in obtaining restraining orders. She also taught a weekly legal options class.
Upon entering the law program, Ms. Boyd joined Hammerschmidt Broughton Law Corporation, where she worked as a law clerk and later became an associate attorney.
In 2012, Ms. Boyd accepted a position as a staff attorney at the Fresno Alternate Defense Office and opened her own firm, the Law Office of Laura M. Bragg, now known as the Law Office of Laura M. Boyd.
Ms. Boyd has been honored with the Northern California Super Lawyers Rising Star award for 2014-2015 and 2017-2020. This award is determined by a multiphase selection process and is given to no more than 2.5% of the attorneys in the state of California. Ms. Boyd served as the President of the Fresno County Women Lawyers in 2014. Additionally, Ms. Boyd was a member of Leadership Fresno Class 29.
